When Dennis and Nicky Bowhay called us for a quote on a gravel area on the side of their garage, they hadn't realized that we also install fences and paver patios. As it turned out, we were working on another major project for the Costellos just a mile away. So after looking at the work we were doing there, and checking out our highly-rated reviews on Angie's List and HomeAdvisor, the Bowhay's contracted us to build them a new fence and paver patio as well.

​Not all fence construction is alike. We know that most homeowners are on a budget when it comes to home improvement projects and it's important to keep costs under control. However, the old addage that "you get what you pay for" is often true. There are many fence installation contractors around South Puget Sound, and you will receive a wide range of bids if you shop around. But you will also find a wide range in quality.

As buildable land in South Puget Sound becomes more scarce and increases in value, many property owners are taking advantage by subdividing their larger lots and selling them.

This Lacey property really needed some privacy. The backyard had a chain link fence bordered by a ditch. (You can see the matching fence to the right in the photo above.) Each time neighbors drove the road behind the fence, it was noisy, dusty and distracting, especially a night when the cars had their headlights on.

Most people who are looking to buy a house do research on neighborhoods in the area and consider factors such as the quality and ratings of the schools their children will attend, crime rates and property taxes. These factors are all publicly available online.

Here is a really important lesson: don't plant bamboo unless you're willing to do a lot of maintenance and hard labor. Bamboo is an invasive species. Once it gets started, it's hard to keep it under control. Some species of bamboo can literally grow inches, or even feet per day!

​The owner of this Steilacoom property wanted to replace his aging, worn fence with a new one, but wanted to give his prize-winning poodles a better view of goings-on in the neighborhood without the risk of them jumping out. We built him this "step-down" fence, which keeps the top of the fence level while the bottom conforms to the slope of the hill. This allows the pups to enjoy the view while keeping them safe and secure.

This is another style of fence we are sometimes asked to install: a scalloped top line. Rather than a straight profile with straight-cut or dog-ear trim, the top of the fence is cut into a "U" shape.  This decorative style offers a unique design preferred by some homeowners.

​This customer in Olympia wanted to make a statement with a gated security fence.  The double swing driveway gate allows easy access for his mobile trailer. The fence also includes a smaller swing gate for pedestrian access.

To complement this front gated fence, we built fencing to protect the rest of his property, including his community lake access and neighboring fences.
